Dreamscapes in Plasters: Shaping Futures
- BrandingDreamscapes in Plasters: Shaping Futuresz is an immersive exhibition that explores the intersection of memory, imagination, and material transformation through the lens of plaster—a humble yet versatile medium. This design project focuses on the visual and communicative elements of the exhibition, for which I created the poster wall, visitor guidebook, and a range of curated merchandise. My goal was to translate the conceptual depth of the exhibition into tangible and engaging experiences for the audience, bridging the gap between art and everyday interaction.
The title Dreamscapes in Plasters suggests a poetic contrast: ephemeral visions rendered in solid, tactile form. Inspired by this duality, I developed a visual language that blends softness and structure—using textures, abstract motifs, and layered compositions to evoke the feeling of dreams being cast into physical space. The poster wall serves not only as a promotional surface but also as an extension of the exhibit’s spatial atmosphere. Designed to shift between clarity and ambiguity, it draws visitors in and prompts curiosity before they even step into the gallery.
The guidebook acts as a narrative companion. Rather than functioning solely as a map or information sheet, it is designed to offer reflective entries, artist statements, and conceptual cues that allow visitors to engage more deeply with the works on display. Typography, pacing, and layout were carefully considered to maintain a sense of flow and openness—encouraging slow reading and personal interpretation.
In addition, I designed a series of exhibition merchandise—including postcards, pins, and notebooks—that extend the tactile and poetic qualities of the show. These items are not just souvenirs; they are fragments of the dreamscape that visitors can carry with them, continuing the experience beyond the gallery.
Through this project, I aimed to show how thoughtful design can shape not only the visual identity of an exhibition but also the way audiences emotionally and intellectually connect with art. Dreamscapes in Plasters: Shaping Futuresz ultimately invites us to reimagine the role of materiality in building futures—ones shaped by both imagination and memory.
